A device is set to the reset state to set a bankbook 2 to the paging position, i.e., two sets of arms 6a, 6b are set to the home position to form the upper conveyance path of an upper frame 21. The abnormal state of a paging mechanism section is detected by a detecting means, and the occurrence of a jam and the removing method of the jammed bankbook 2 are displayed on a display unit provided outside of a device housing. The arms 6a, 6b are rotatively moved and evacuated in the escaping direction from the conveyance path via a jam occurrence trigger by this display, a space is formed between the upper conveyance system and a lower conveyance system, and the jammed bankbook 2 is removed.
