Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jig for production of long-period grating filters for changing the effective refractive index of an optical fiber by physically changing the core of the optical fiber and a process for producing the long-period gratings by using the same and a method therefor.
SOLUTION: This jig includes an upper cylindrical body 202 which is formed with plural saw teeth 201 having prescribed intervals on the lower side and a lower cylindrical body 206 which has saw teeth 203 of the same intervals as the intervals of the saw teeth of the upper cylindrical body 202 and is formed with plural grooves existing perpendicularly to the saw teeth 201 on its upper side so as to be mounted with the optical fiber 200. The upper cylindrical body 202 and the lower cylindrical body 206 are meshed with each other. The mounted optical fiber 200 is then polished by moving the upper cylindrical body 202 horizontally with the saw teeth 201, by which the plural grooves are formed at the optical fiber 200.
