To reduce the amount of on-site connecting work and working load by constructing a joint with a joint main body, which has on its circumference at least three holes that pass through radially, inserted with a polyethylene pipe and fastening members that are engaged in the holes.
This joint comprises a joint main body 1, consisting of an axially extending cylindrical part 2 and an axially opened annular fitting part 3 integrated with the cylindrical part 2 and fastening members 4 such as bolts. At a connection site the cylindrical part 2 is inserted into a polyethylene pipe 5, and a pipe end is fitted around the fitting part 3. Since tapped holes are provided in advance on the circumference of the fitting part 3, under these conditions a tool is used along the tapped holes to pass the tapped holes through an entire radius together with the polyethylene pipe 5. After this operation is similarly performed on six portions, the bolts 4 are driven into the tapped holes to fasten the polyethylene pipe into place. Thus a connection on the side of the polyethylene pipe 5 is finished.
