To obtain a joint sheet-forming composition excellent in plate-making processability or the like and capable of obtaining joint sheets excellent in mechanical properties such as strength which can be utilized in a wide range of industrial fields such as chemical industries, automobiles, marine vessels, various types of equipment and apparatus and can suitably be used as the base material of gaskets, and joint sheets to be formed from the composition, especially joint sheets of a multi-layered structure.
A joint sheet-forming composition comprises a fiber base material composed of non-asbestos inorganic fibers and/or organic fibers, a nitrile rubber, rubber chemicals, a filler and an organic solvent with a content of acrylonitrile component units in the nitrile rubber of not less than 36 wt.% and the organic solvent being toluene and/or a rubber solvent. Joint sheets of a multi-layered structure comprises a fiber base material composed of non- asbestos inorganic fibers and/or organic fibers, a vulcanized nitrile rubber and a filler and have a layer having a content of acrylonitrile component units in the nitrile rubber of not less than 36 wt.%.
