To provide the joint structure of a square type steel-pipe column, in which the effective space of a building can be taken at a large value.
Four joint plates 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d welded while plate surfaces are brought into contact with each of the four surfaces of the upper end section of the lower square type steel-pipe column 1 and upper halves are projected from the upper end of the square type steel-pipe column and the lower end section of the upper square type steel-pipe column 3 inserted to a section surrounded by the projecting sections of these four joint plates 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d are clamped by through-bolts 6 penetrated to boltholes formed to the mutual projecting sections of two opposed joint plates 2a and 2c and 2b and 2d and boltholes formed to the opposed two surfaces of the upper square type steel-pipe column 3 and sheathed pipes 4 and 5 arranged into the upper square type steel- pipe column 3. Accordingly, the upper and lower square type steel-pipe columns 1 and 3 are joined.
