To judge systemic lupus erythematosus or the possibility of its onset by detecting the variation in the amino acid residue in codon at a specific site on tumor necrosis factor 2 to enable the application to onset prevention or early diagnoses of the above disease.
Systemic lupus erythematosus or the possibility of its onset is judged by detecting the variation in the amino acid residue in codon at 196th- site on tumor necrosis factor 2 (TNFR2) by gene amplification method with PCR technique using a detective reagent containing a nucleotide fragment consisting of at least 12 consecutive bases of a nucleotide sequence of the formula or a nucleotide sequence complementary thereto; wherein the above nucleotide fragment is obtained by the following procedure: a chromosomal DNA is extracted from the peripheral lymphocytes of patient(s) suffered from systemic lupus erythematosus, and then subjected to PCR with a primer consisting of a TNFR2 gene fragment followed by retrieving the product exhibiting such electrophoretic mobility as to differ from that of ordinary type among amplified products.
