Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition type direct-injection engine which includes a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas to be exhausted from a combustion chamber, for promoting the activation of the catalyst while securing engine torque.SOLUTION: In a low speed region of the engine in which the catalyst is in an inactive state, the fuel injection pressure of a direct-injection injector 67 is set to be a predetermined pressure of 30 MPa or higher so that a time from fuel injection start to firing is three msec or shorter, and a fuel injection start timing before ignition is set within a period from the later stage of a compression stroke to the early stage of an expansion stroke so that combustion is started a predetermined crank angle later than a compression top dead center.
