Abstract:

To provide promotion of uniformization by an improvement in an air utilization factor and the torque improving effect by cooling of intake air, while securing ingitability in uniform combustion.

This jump spark ignition type direct-injection engine has a spark plug 16 arranged in a combustion chamber 6, and a fuel injection valve 18 arranged on the peripheral edge of the combustion chamber 6 so that a tip part points obliquely downward. The engine is constituted so that the fuel injection valve 18 is provided with an electrode side nozzle port having the axis pointing to the vicinity of an electrode E of the spark plug 16, when looking at the tip side in the fuel injection direction from at least the fuel injection valve side, and three or more piston side nozzle ports having the axis respectively pointing in an area of the equally divided areas, when looking at the tip side in the fuel injection direction from the fuel injection valve side, to an area of the respective equally divided areas of dividing a piston upper surface in a plan view into three equal parts or more in a fan shape, in a piston position in the middle of an intake stroke of maximally lifting an intake valve 12.
