To obtain a composition for dyeing a keratin fiber, which yields various, extremely strong colors with little unevenness, hardly shows any temporal change and imparts fastness to the color of the fiber.
The composition contains a specific azodiazine direct dye which is aminated at position 7 and is represented by formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 may each be hydrogen atom; R3 may be a heterocyclic group; P is 0 or 1, provided that when p=0, (z) is a single bond and q=1, and when p=1, (z) is an alkylene group substituted with q×R3 groups; (q) may be 1-5; R4 and R5 may each be an alkyl group; R6 may be a phenolic group; X and Y may each be a nitrogen atom; and A is an anionic counter ion). A method for dyeing the keratin fiber using the specific direct dye is also provided.
