PURPOSE: To reduce the time required for attaining stable combustion and to improve radiant heating efficiency by a method wherein a heat-resistant black pigment is adhered to the surface of a porous plate made of a ceramic material to form a film thereon by means of an inorganic binder.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of each of porous plates 2 and porous plates 3 is formed a black film consisting of heat-resistant black pigment powder 16 prepared from the oxide of transition metals and an inorganic binder 17. Ordinarily, a glass frit is used for the inorganic binder to be applied, the kind of glass frits being different according to a ceramic material which is used for the porous plates, and it is necessary to match the coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass frit to that of the ceramic material as closely as possible. When cordierite type ceramics or lithia type ceramics is used, an Al2O3-B2D3- SiO2 series (900° of softening point) or an Li2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 series (1100°C of softening point) or the like is preferable, as said ceramics has small coefficient of thermal expansion.
