PURPOSE: To permit an optimum size to be selected by a user, to improve operability, and to reduce the fatigue of an operator, by providing a mechanism in which the size of the display area of a keyboard, and the size of a keytop of a key itself can be set arbitrarily.
CONSTITUTION: The titled mechanism is constituted of a touch panel 1, a liquid crystal display element plane 2, and the keyboard 3, and the touch panel 1 detects the content of the key depressed corresponding (for example 4 and 5) to a keytop area being displayed on the liquid crystal display plane 2. The liquid crystal display plane 2 is formed by arranging the liquid crystal display elements as a dot pattern in a net shape, and an arbitrary dot can be displayed. Since the reference points of keyboard displaying areas 7, 7', and 7", and the side length of a rectangle representing the keytop, are decided by the size of the keytop, and the keytop and the content of the key are arranged and displayed from the reference point, keyboard display display having an arbitrary size can be obtained on the keyboard display lane. In this way, since it is possible to select the keyboard of optimum size for a work, among several kinds of keyboards having different sizes, the operability can be improved, and the fatigue due to the work can be reduced.
