Title:
KING PIN TILT ANGLE CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05139138
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a king pin tilt angle control device which is improved in steering stability by detecting the rearward input of a tire from an earth- contact surface thereof as a result of braking under a condition of braking operation, or under a condition of decelerated vehicle travel resulting from braking operation, controlling the king pin tilt angle only at the time of braking, and thereby increasing the amount of toe-in of a wheel occurring due to the rearward input of the tire to prevent occurrence of toe-out.

CONSTITUTION: The control device comprises the step S1 of reading the amount of brake operation from the amount of stroke of a brake pedal, etc., the step S2 of determining a target king pin tilt angle so that an amount of toe-in capable of preventing occurrence of toe-out at the time of braking may be attained as a result of the rearward input of a tire resulting from braking, the step S3 of calculating a target amount of stroke of hydraulic cylinder necessary to obtain the target king pin tilt angle on the basis of a control map, and the steps S4 to S6 of changing the king pin tilt angle through controlling the hydraulic cylinder so as to execute that target amount of stroke.
