This knitting machine is equipped with a pivotally rotatable control jack (8) having two lifting butts (17, 18) so that the jack acts on each of knitting tools (7), and further with selection devices of which the each has two control magnets (31, 32) arranged in such a manner that one of the magnets is positioned at the rear of the other magnet when observed in the direction of traveling of the knitting tools (7), wherein the control jack (8) directs a course of traveling on a knitting cam (28) together with one (17) of the lifting butts or another course of traveling on a tuck cam (29) together with the other (18) of the lifting butts, according to which of the two control magnets (31, 32) is selected for operating one of procedures to be selected.
