Title:
KNOCK SENSOR FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2012220336
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a knock sensor that allows increasing of a contact area between an attachment surface of a knock sensor to an internal combustion engine and a mounting surface on a cylinder block in the internal combustion engine, and thus can make wider a vibration detectable range of frequency.

A non-resonant type knock sensor includes: a metal base 2 which has a flange part 2a and a cylindrical part 2b extending in the axial direction from the flange part and, on the flange part of which there is formed an attachment surface 2e being made to come into contact with a vibration generating part in an internal combustion engine. Further, the non-resonant type knock sensor includes: a piezoelectric element 4 which is provided on a cylindrical part 2b and which converts knocking vibration on the vibration generating part to an electrical signal to detect it; and a holding member 10 for press-holding the piezoelectric element 4 on the flange part 2a. The surface of the metal base 2 including at least the attachment surface 2e is subjected to a surface treatment 3 for Vickers hardness 20 HV or less.
