To provide a label affixing apparatus preventing any trace of suction holes by a suction drum from being formed when a label is affixed to a container.
The label affixing apparatus sucks the label L with a heat-sensitive adhesive 11 coated on one side thereof, on the surface of a suction drum 3 having a large number of suction holes 302, heats the label by the suction drum to activate the heat-sensitive adhesive, and transfers the label to a predetermined affixing position at a constant speed v1. The container B is transferred to the affixing position at the timing when the label reaches the affixing position, and the label is affixed to the side surface of the container by pressing the side surface of the container against the label in a rotating manner. The affixing apparatus pulls the label by the rotation of the container after a fore end of the label is stuck on the container by rotating the container at the peripheral velocity v2 higher than the peripheral velocity of the suction drum during the affixing operation, and allows the label to slide on a suction surface of the suction drum at the relative speed. Thus, the positions of the suction holes are shifted, and any projecting part 12 due to the suction of the suction holes is not formed when the label is affixed to the container.
