To provide a label for a battery sheath formed by a heat shrinkable film having a high shrinkage initiation temperature wherein a heat shrinkage rate at an equal temperature of heat shrinkage to a conventional one is retained.

In the label for the battery sheath, a printing layer and a thermosensitive adhesive layer are laminated on the heat shrinkable film, made of a polyester containing at least naphthalene dicarboxylic acid as a dicarboxylic acid component of monomer components, wherein one-directional elongation treatment has been made. At least alicyclic diol may be contained as a diol component of monomer components in the polyester of the heat shrinkable film. Cyclohexane dimethanol is contained in the alicyclic diols. The heat shrinkable film is the film wherein the elongation treatment is made three- to five-fold in one direction, and the heat shrinkage rate in such direction may be not less than 30% at 150°C for ten seconds, but not more tan 0.5% at 90°C or less for ten seconds.
