The rotating shaft 36 of the opening/closing unit 32 for opening a support paper discharging passage B of this label printer 1 is freely rotatably supported by a shaft hole 37a on a printer cover side under a state with play. When the operating lever 34 of the opening/closing unit 32 is operated, a cam lever 44 is pressed by the operating lever 34 and rotates, and an arm section 44b on the front side of the cam lever 44 hits the circular surface 43c of a positioning section 43 on the printer cover side. The opening/closing unit 32 is pushed upward by the play portion of the rotating shaft 36 by a reactive force from the circular surface 43c. As a result, a positioning surface 41a on the opening/closing unit side is separated from the positioning surface 43a on the printer cover side and is lifted, and the opening/closing unit 32 can be opened by a small operating force while those surfaces do not interfere with each other.
