To provide a label printer in which so-called blind printing is prevented after an ink ribbon has arrived at the end in the way of printing, printing can be started from a next label when an ink ribbon cassette is exchanged in the way of printing, and waste of label sheet (label) can be minimized.
The label printer printing a desired character string for each label L arranged on a label sheet LS utilizing an ink ribbon 51 comprises a means 75 for printing the character string, a means 76 for stopping print operation when the ink ribbon 51 arrives at the end, and a means 77 for storing the label position in the way of printing at the same moment in time. When an ink ribbon cassette 5 containing the ink ribbon 51 is exchanged, the print means 75 begins printing from a label L located at a position next to the label position stored by the label position storing means 77.
