USE: Antianxiety agent; they have extremely reduced side actions such as hypnosis and muscle relaxation activities and are observed to have antineuropasmolytic action.
PREPARATION: Cylization of a compound of formula III obained by the reduction of a compound of formula II in the presence of a mineral acid or the reduction of a compound of formula II under neutral or basic conditions with subsequent reaction of the resultant compound of formula I in which R1 is H with a reactive derivative of acid such as acetyl chloride or an alkoxycarbonyl halide forms a compound of formula I in which R1 is other than H
