PURPOSE: To provide a composition containing lactic acid bacteria colonized in bacterium floras in human oral cavities and exhibiting a dental caries- preventing effect as well as an intestinal disorder-preventing effect, and further to provide a method for producing the composition.

CONSTITUTION: A composition for foods, drugs, etc., prepared by screening a lactic acid bacterium (preferably Streptococcus salivarius) forming a crater-like colony when cultured under prescribed conditions and producing dextanase, multiplying the screened bacterium, and subsequently compounding the multiplied bacteria, and a method for producing the composition.
