To reduce pressure loss when the outlet side serves as a gas refrigerant passage while enhancing strength and reducing vertical size by making an interconnection hole having elliptical upper half part and elongated circular lower half part in the outlet side tank part having elliptical upper half part and elongated circular lower half part.
When an evaporator 5 is constituted by partitioning an inlet/ outlet tank part 3, provided at one end of a flat tube constituted by abutting two plates 2, into an inlet part 6 and an outlet part 7, flat inlet part 6 and outlet part 7 elongated in the plate depth direction interconnected through an interconnection hole 8 have elongated circular lower half part and elliptical upper half part, respectively. One interconnection hole 8 forming the inlet part 6 or the outlet part 7 is a through hole and a flange part 8a formed at the edge of the other interconnection hole 8 is inserted into the interconnection hole 8 in the plate 2 of other flat tube. When a flat inlet/outlet tank part 3 having elliptical upper half part is employed, pressure tightness can be enhanced.
