Title:
LAMINATE OF POLYETHYLENE TO METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06248248
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject laminate improved in the corrosion resistance of the metal and in appearance and good in the adhesion between the polyethylene and the metal under a warm water condition and an alkaline condition by using a specific modified polyethylene composition as an adhesive layer.

CONSTITUTION: The laminate is characterized by using a modified polyethylene composition as an adhesive layer, the modified polyethylene composition being produced by modifying (A) 100 pts.wt. polyethylene (preferably linear low density polyethylene) containing ≤50wt.% of an olefinic rubber (e.g. ethylene-propylene eopolymer rubber) with (B) 0.5-20 pts.wt. of unsaturated glycidyl compound (preferably glycidyl methacrylate). The modified polyethylene composition is preferably produced e.g. by feeding the polyethylene, the olefinic rubber, the component B and a catalyst such as benzoyl peroxide into an extruder and subsequently melt-kneading the mixture at 170-300°C for 0.1-20min. When the adhesive layer, the polyethylene and the metal are laminated to each other, the metal and the resin are preferably held at temperatures of 160-200°C and 180-230°C, respectively.
