PURPOSE: To avert the fine grooves and distortion of the lens element of a laminated glass-plastic lens structural member for spectacles.

CONSTITUTION: This structural member includes an inorg. glass layer and a rigid org. plastic layer. The org. plastic layer is an optical transparent epoxy polymer cast from an aliphat. and/or arom. epoxide monomer, a hardener, a supply source for an active hydroxyl group and an accelerator. This aliphat. and/or arom. expoxide monomer imparts a prescribed refractive index. The ratio of the hardener to the epoxide monomer is in a range from 2:5 to 5:4 and the ratio of the hardener to the supply source of the hydroxyl group is in a range from 2:1 to 6:1. The amt. of the accelerator is ≥0.01 to ≤1.0% of the mixture.
