Abstract:
Provided is a molded article which has excellent mechanical properties with respect to bending strength, compressive strength, etc. and has reduced anisotropy in the mechanical properties and in which the mechanical properties hence are kept high regardless of the direction of deformation or position. The molded article is obtained by stacking fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin prepregs and compression-molding the stack, and is characterized in that in a thickness-direction cross-section having a thickness of 1 mm or greater, there are five or more fiber-reinforced layers each with a thickness of 0.005-1.0 mm sandwiched between two fiber-free thermoplastic resin layers each having a thickness of 0.01-1.0 mm, that in each of the fiber-reinforced layers, the values of ellipticity (minor-axis length/major-axis length) of the constituent single fibers, as determined in the thickness-direction cross-section, have a standard deviation of 0.1 or less, and that the average value of the ellipticity of the constituent single fibers in each of the fiber-reinforced layers, as determined in the thickness-direction cross-section, has a standard deviation of 0.2 or more with respect to the average value for the fiber-reinforced layers.
