PURPOSE: To provide a suspension type lamp holder and a lighting system connecting this lamp holder.

CONSTITUTION: This lamp holder 1 forms a resin molded pedestal part 2 an airtight seal between a cap part 3, and an electricity supply cable stored in a channel 31, and a water resistant seal between the cap part and a globe 17. A protrusion part 9 having a projecting part 10 is fitted in a cylindrical part 16 by cam action of a taper part 15 of a support 13 between the cap part 3 and the pedestal part 2 such that the projecting part 10 is fitted in a groove 11. Needle-like electrodes 4 between the cap part 3 and the pedestal part 2 penetrate the cable supporting the lamp holder 1 in a suspending type lighting system. A lamp 6 may be a low voltage halogen lamp and may also use a suspending type bulb held perpendicular to the lamp holder 1 by hooked wires.
