The lamp unit for vehicle 100 is arranged between the projector lens 31 and an LED 33; and is provided with a cutoff line forming member 39 for forming the cutoff line of a low-beam light distribution pattern, by positioning its leading edge end 39a near the rear focal point F of the projector lens 31, to shield a part of the reflecting light from a reflector 37, and an added reflector 41 for condensing the light from the LED 35 to a spot near the rear focal point F of the projector lens 31. The light distribution pattern for the high beam is formed, by condensing the light from the LED 35 to the spot near the rear-focal point F of the projector 31, on the condition that the leading end edge 39a of the cutoff line forming member 39 be set relatively remote from the rear focal point F of the projector lens 31.
