Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a LAN emulation duplicate system where an active system/ standby system server is automatically decided without special setting and a LAN emulation service is continuously served by automatically selecting a LAN emulation server of a standby system on the occurrence of a fault in a LAN emulation server of an active system in a network that realizes a LAN emulation service.
SOLUTION: LAN emulation servers 2,3 are placed in an ATM network 1. When the system is in operation, a standby server supervises an active server and on the occurrence of a fault in the active server, the active server detecting the fault starts LAN emulation service to LAN emulation clients 4, 5, 6 automatically to prevent interruption of the network service. The active system/standby system server is decided by exchanging a specific value for each device or each server with each other.
