A container n as an object is photographed by a camera 11 mounted on a predetermined position of the spreader 6, and an object to be processed by an operator, on the image data obtained by the photographing is indicated by an image processing device 13 and a controller 14 to simplify the image processing such as the taking-out delivery of the container n. A position of the container n on the image is detected after the image processing, and the spreader 6 is positioned by a driving device 15 in such manner that a position of the detected container n is agreed with the position of the spreader, whereby the operation for landing the spreader 6 and the container n suspended from the spreader 6 on the target positions, and gripping the same can be automatically easily and accurately executed, and the efficiency of the cargo handling work can be remarkably improved.
