To make it easy to light a lantern, to keep it burning even in wind and rain, and to make it easy to disassemble it for cleaning by erecting a pair of guide members on the upper surface of a base, and attaching a vertically moving element in the form of a plate spring, which moves up and down along the inner surface of each guide member.
Vertically moving elements 7 each taking the form of a plate spring are moved up and down along guide members 6 to move a candlestick 4 to a position where it is easy to light a candle R that is put on the candlestick 4. Also, a transparent cylindrical element 3 is made relatively high, the candle R is lighted, and thereafter the moving elements 7 are moved to final lower ends along the guide members 6, so that the cylindrical element 3 serves as a windbreak and can prevent the candle R from being blown out by wind. Further, since an umbrella-shaped body 5 is placed on top of the cylindrical element 3, entrance of rainwater or the like into the cylindrical element 3 can be prevented to prevent the candle R from being extinguished. Moreover, since it is easy to disassemble these parts, cleaning and washing of them can be performed easily.
