A lapping device 1 comprises a lapping film 11, a shoe 21, a shoe pressing unit 30 which presses the shoe against a work W to press a abrasive grain surface of the lapping film against the work, a rotary drive unit 40 to rotate the work, an oscillation unit 50 to provide oscillation to the work, a rotary encoder S1 to detect the rotational position of the work, and a controller 100. The controller variably controls at least one of the shoe pressing force, the work rotational speed, and the oscillation speed according to the rotational position of the work during the lapping, and unifies the lapping quantity per unit circumferential length on a lapping surface of the work.
