LARGE PORE DIAMETER POROUS SPHERICAL POLYAMINO ACID PARTICLE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain the title particle of a large pore diameter by adding a poor solvent and a random solvent to an organic solvent solution of a hydrophobic polyamino acid, suspending the obtained solution in an aqueous solvent containing partially saponified PVA, and removing the organic solvent, the poor solvent and the random solvent from the resulting suspension. CONSTITUTION:To a solution of 0.1-10wt.% hydrophobic polyamino acid in an organic solvent are added a poor solvent for the polyamino acid in an amount 0.1-10 times by weight as large as that of the polyamino acid and a random solvent in an amount 0.1-10 times by weight as large as that of the polyamino acid, and the obtained solution is added to an aqueous medium containing 0.1-5wt.% partially saponified PVA of a degree of saponification of 10-15%. This suspension is heated to a temperature equal to or lower than the boiling point of the organic solvent, and the organic solvent is evaporated off to obtain a spherical precipitate of the hydrophobic polyamino acid. This precipitate is washed to remove the partially saponified PVA, and is extracted to remove the poor solvent and the random solvent.
