To provide a large-sized display device which keeps color reproduction easily expanded by controlling the illumination which offers a plurality of colors and strengths.
The device has a plurality of exclusive illuminating fixtures 4a, 4b, and 4c which can control the colors and strengths and are positioned so as to complement the interior light 5x and to illuminate the large-sized display 10, and the control section 3 which analyzes the picture quality displayed on the large-sized display 10 through the evaluation section 31 and controls the colors and strengths of the exclusive illumination by selecting any of the exclusive illuminating fixtures 4a, 4b and 4c through the illumination selection section 32. The device thus improves the power of expression of the displayed images by widening the range of the color reproduction using the most suitable illumination to the displayed picture images.
