PURPOSE: To obtain a large-sized liquid crystal display device whose color filter is not deteriorated by heating by plurally providing a screen provided with the color filter of three primary colors on a rear surface and a projection module projecting the image of a monochromatic liquid crystal display on the screen.

CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with the screen E provided with the mosaically arranged color filter 16 of the three primaly colors R, V, and B on the rear surface 14, and one or a plurality of projection modules MP respectively provided with optical means L, C, F and P1 projecting the image of the monochromatic liquid crystal display A. Therefore, the color filter 16 does not exist in the display A so as to eliminate the danger of being heated and deteriorated, and exists in the display screen E. Thus, restriction related to the compatibility with the liquid crystal is eliminated, so that the size of the device becomes larger and the device can be manufactured by utilizing printing technique.
