To provide a large supercharged large internal combustion engine improving total fuel economy.
The supercharged large internal combustion engine is provided with: a turbocharger having a turbine (6) driven by exhaust gas and a compressor (9) driven by the turbine (6) and supplying air supply to a cylinder of the engine; an exhaust pipe (5) for guiding exhaust gas from the cylinder to the turbine (6); and a humidifying unit (12) for humidifying the air supply by injecting water to the air supply. The humidifying unit (12) can control the temperature of the air supply so that the temperature in the outlet position of the humidifying unit (12) becomes approximately 75C or approximately 85C. By injecting water at temperature higher than the outside air temperature by the humidifying unit (12), air supply with high absolute humidity and relatively high temperatures is produced and thus, energy contents of the air supply and exhaust gas are increased. The supercharged large internal combustion engine is further provided with an energy use means (26) driven by exhaust gas branched from the exhaust pipe (5) to use at least part of the increased energy content in the exhaust gas.
