Abstract:

To provide a laser beam machining apparatus, in which a work distance is easily adjusted according to a machining condition, and to provide a method for adjusting the work distance.

In the apparatus, an indication image H formed by visible light L2, L3 for adjusting the work distance is moved from a focal distance R1 of a convergent lens 14 to a position dislocated in the optical axis direction of the lens 14, by turning a galvano mirror. Thereby, when printing is thereafter conducted under the same printing condition, the work distance is easily adjusted to be optimal by adjusting the distance based on the indication image H after moving, even if the dimension of each work W differs from one another.
