To provide a laser beam machining head by which an excellent propagation efficiency of the laser beam is provided, and the speed and the quality of the machining can be improved.
A fundamental wave laser beam 2 emitted from a YAG laser beam oscillator 1 via an optical fiber 3 is paralleled by a collimating lens 4, then converted into a second higher harmonic laser beam 12 by a wavelength conversion element 5, the second higher harmonic laser beam 12 is converged by conversion lens 6 and an object to be machined is irradiated with the laser beam. Further, a holder 11 supporting the wavelength conversion element 5 is turned by a moving mechanism 10 of a position selecting means 8 thus the object to be machined is irradiated with the basic wave laser beam 2 emitted from the YAG laser beam oscillator 1 via the optical fiber 3, without shortening the wavelength of the laser beam.
