To provide a laser beam welding method capable of obtaining a weld part having the excellent mechanical properties.
A joining scheduled line SS of members 10, 11 is irradiated with laser beams L. Since the beam shape of the laser beams L is oblong, the heat input is reduced compared with that of the completely circular beam shape, and the time for irradiating one point is prolonged. Thus, the members 10, 11 are preheated on the forward side in the moving direction of the laser beams L, the melting is started at the center of the laser beams L, and further melting is performed on a backward side in the moving direction of the laser beams L to suppress any rapid heating. A melting promoting material 16 for promoting the melting of the members 10, 11 is fed from a forward side of the moving direction of the laser beams L, and exposed to the laser beams L for a relatively long time. Thereby, the melting promoting material 16 is considerably and easily melted, and easily deposited on a work. Thus, the members 10, 11 can be efficiently and sufficiently melted.
