Title:
LASER HARDENED CYLINDER LINER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63140849
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve abrasion resistance and have an oil retaining effect as well as to prevent oil from running short, by installing a laser hardening part and a non-hardening part alternately on a cylinder liner sliding surface.

CONSTITUTION: Each strip laser hardening part 1 is formed on a sliding surface of a cylinder line in the axial direction at regular intervals, and each laser hardening part 2 is intermittently formed between these strip hardening parts in the circumferential direction. With this constitution, the laser hardening part comes high in hardness and improves its abrasion resistance, while a minute depth oil groove can be formed in the non-hardening part 3, thereby making it able to have a lubricating oil retaining effect.
