To provide a low-cost lean burn laser igniting engine having high durability and excellent maintainability by stably igniting and burning a lean mixture without increasing the energy density of a laser beam in an absorption laser igniting system for absorbing the laser beam to a gas in a combustion chamber by directly radiating the laser beam to the gas.
In this laser igniting engine, the gas in the combustion chamber is ignited by a plasma generated by radiating a condensed laser beam into the combustion chamber. The engine comprises an additive supply means supplying an additive increasing the absorbing efficiency of the laser energy of the gas in the combustion chamber into the combustion chamber. The laser beam from a laser beam condensing device is radiated into the additive supplied from the additive supply means into the combustion chamber.
