PURPOSE: To collect invading metal atoms by adhering to a plate and to prevent contamination of a laser incident window by rotating the plate extending in parallel with a laser light.
CONSTITUTION: In a vacuum melting furnace for melting metal with laser light, laser light 32 is introduced from a laser oscillator 36 into a vacuum vessel 34 through a laser incident window 35. On the other hand, metal atoms 31 are scattered from melted metal in the vessel, and flown toward the window. A rotary body 30 has many radiating direction plates 38 disposed in a cylinder 37, and is so rotated at a rotating speed that the atoms 31 introduced into the body are always collided with the plates 38 during passage of the body 30 by a motor around a shaft 33. Accordingly, the moving atoms 31 in the body 30 are collided to the plates 38 to be adsorbed thereto to prevent contamination of the window with the atoms 31.
