PURPOSE: To make the operation in a endoscopic field easy in a laser irradiation device provided with two optical waveguides having different adaptive regions by forming said device in such a way that a means for smoothly performing an operation such as an assist gas is automatically changed over according to the waveguides to be used.
CONSTITUTION: A laser irradiation device has the 1st working laser light source 2 which outputs the 1st working laser light and the 2nd working laser light source 3 which outputs the 2nd working laser light, and the 1st working laser light 301 from the light source 2 is irradiated by the 1st waveguide means and the 2nd laser light 302 from the light source 3 is irradiated by the 2nd waveguide means. While the 1st waveguide means is in use, the 1st assist gas supply means 13 is driven by the signal indicating the use of said waveguide and the assist gas is supplied only to the 1st waveguide. The 2nd assist gas supply means 12 is similarly driven when the 2nd waveguide means is used.
