Title:
LASER IRRADIATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01121698
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance target destruction effect by measuring the image at a laser irradiating point and driving a tremor mirror in a laser optical path to focus the image at the tracking point of a target thereby irradiating one point of the target continuously with high accuracy.

CONSTITUTION: A first tracking unit 3 tracks a target and directs the optical axis of an optical transmitting/receiving system 1, 5 toward a target. When HEL(high energy laser) is irradiated, HEL light is scattered from an irradiated point 10 and captured at high illuminance when the wavelength of HEL light is previously included in the receiving wavelength band of an image pickup unit 2. A second tracking unit 11 detects the point of peak illuminance, i.e., the laser irradiated point 10, to produce an output for driving a small low capacity tremor mirror 13 through a second servo unit 12 such that the difference from the output tracking point of the first tracking unit 3 converges to 0 and the laser irradiated point 10 follows up a tracking point 9 at high speed. Target destruction effect can be enhanced by irradiating one point of the target continuously with high accuracy.
