Abstract:
To provide a laser welding method and a laser welding system which efficiently join two polymerized thermoplastic resins and increase the strength of the joined part after the welding is completed.SOLUTION: By irradiating the workpiece W (upper material 2 and lower material 3) with a laser beam L in the top hat mode of cross-sectional intensity distribution, the polymerized portions of the upper material 2 and the lower material 3 are efficiently joined. Specifically, first irradiate the upper material 2 with a laser beam L in the top hat mode and drill a through hole 2B in the upper material 2 (Figure 2(a)). Next, the laser light L in the top hat mode is irradiated to the lower material 3 through the through hole 2B. Thereby, the lower end of the through hole 2B and the lower surface 2C and the upper surface 3A in the vicinity thereof are melted, and the two materials 2, 3 are joined together at that point as a joining point. Laser light L is irradiated at several points in the polymerization portions of both materials 2 and 3 in the manner described above, and the polymerization portions of both materials 2 and 3 are joined.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
