PURPOSE: To quickly carry out an adjustment operation by making a spatial position mutually adjustable between a part containing a tool shaft and a part containing a laser optical mechanism in a laser machining head.

CONSTITUTION: The laser machining head 2 for a numerically controlled machine tool 1 is equipped with a configured tool shaft for the purpose of exchanging with a machining tool. The spatial position of the part having the tool shaft and that of the part having a laser optical mechanism, in the machining head 2, are adjustable with each other, which enables a required adjustment operation to be carried out in the machining head 2 in itself. A control switch 9 in the tool shaft, a position detector 10 in the part having the laser optical mechanism, and a safety switch 13 in a tool box 6 are mutually connected in a common safety circuit. Then, the machining head 2 is correctly retained, and connected to the laser 4 only when the adjustment has been made.
