PURPOSE: To provide a marking method ensuring favorable operability and easy reading, by irradiating a heat-fusible ink with laser beams and adhering the melted ink to an object.
CONSTITUTION: Laser beams 2 oscillated from a laser oscillator 1 are deflected by a reflector 3, and are transmitted through a metallic mask 4. Desired characters, symbols or the like are punched in the mask 4, and the laser beams 2 in the pattern of the characters, symbols or the like reach a condenser lens 6, whereby the beams are condensed on a tape 6 in accordance with the characters or the like. The tape 6 is formed of a heat-resistant substance 6a such as a polyester which is coated with, for example, a white ink 7. In marking, the tap 6 is brought into contact with, for example, the upper side of an IC 21 by rollers 11, 12. After a predetermined lapse of time, the pressing of the tape 6 against the IC 21 by the rollers 11, 12 is released, the tape 6 is moved upward, and baking 7a, 7b in correspondence with the characters is conducted on the surface of the IC 21.
