Abstract:
PURPOSE: To optimize the mode performance of a multiple wavelength laser by applying wavelength selective coating to the opposite sides of a resonator mirror. CONSTITUTION: The inventive laser mirror 22 has inner and outer surfaces 32, 34 applied with a wavelength selective coating. The coating on the inner surface 32 reflects a light 36 in first wavelength region and transmits a light 38 in second wavelength region. The outer surface 34 reflects a light 38 in second wavelength region. In a preferred embodiment, the mirror has one planar surface and the other curved surface which can be matched easily. Since the inner and outer surfaces have different curvatures, diameters of beams in two wavelength regions can be controlled independently and the mode to be generated from a laser 20 can be optimized.
