Title:
LASER OSCILLATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01181484
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for components for obtaining special circularly polarized light by constituting a laser oscillator so that emitted light is changed directly into circularly polarized light.

CONSTITUTION: A rear mirror 10 has a particularly high reflectivity in the direction of the arrow 10a, and turning-around mirrors 11 and 12 are used as a phase retarder in π/2 by a pair of two. A laser oscillator oscillates by linearly polarized light in the direction that it is turned by π/4 from a plane formed by optical axes 7a∼7c, as shown by the arrow 10a or 10b in the region of the optical axis 7a. The laser oscillator oscillates in a state of circularly polarized light in the region 7c, and oscillation in the state of complex polarized light having the state of different polarization light according to the positions is generated. Consequently, since the rear mirror 10 has the maximum reflectivity in the direction that it has a constant inclination, linearly polarized light is acquired between the rear mirror 10 and the turning-around mirrors 11, 12 at the shortest distances from the mirror 10, the turning-around mirrors 11, 12 function as a phase retarder, and phase is shifted only by π/2, thus obtaining circularly polarized light beams as emitted beams acquired.
