PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser peening device capable of freely performing laser peening depending on various situations desired by a user.SOLUTION: A laser peening device includes a slide mechanism 4 that slides a coating member 2, having at least a solid transparent layer, on a workpiece surface irradiated with a laser, and a laser mechanism 5 that makes the workpiece generate residual stress, by applying a laser pulse to the workpiece surface, via the coating member 2 sliding on the workpiece surface.
