To provide a safe and strong laser probe by solving the following problems; the laser probe cannot be arranged since a conventional laser probe cannot cope with shortening of an optical fiber caused at repairing time since the length cannot be adjusted in a metallic protective pipe, and the leakage of a laser beam at optical fiber rupturing time cannot be prevented thereby and since there is a danger of exerting adverse influence on a person and an object when the laser beam leaks in the case where the optical fiber ruptured at laser beam transmitting time.
A freely extensible/contractible metallic protective pipe 4 is arranged in an other peripheral part of a laser beam transmitting optical fiber 2. Thus, repairing work causing shortening of an optical fiber can be performed in a sate of arranging the metallic protective pipe 4. Leakage of a laser beam at optical fiber rupturing time is shielded by the metallic protective pipe so that the prevention of leakage can be attained.
