To provide a laser scanning microscope apparatus which facilitates the setting of an observation range, to provide a control method of the laser scanning microscope and to provide a control program for the laser scanning microscope.

The laser scanning microscope apparatus comprises a control unit 4 for moving an electrically driven stage 15 to a saving position apart from an objective lens 13 or to a resetting position from the saving position and a CPU 24 for acquiring brightness information of reflection light from a cover glass and a slide glass via an optical detector 21 or 22 and determining the observation range of the Z direction based on the acquired brightness information, during the movement of the electrically driven stage 15 on which a sample 14 enclosed between a slide glass and a cover glass is mounted, from the saving position to the resetting position.
